WUTHERING HEIGHTS ( CHAPTER THIRTY THREE)

The morning after Cathy gives Hareton the book and she and Heathcliff get in to an argument over her inheritance. Hareton takes her side. Heathcliff grabs cathy and nearly hits her but then suddenly lets go  her eyes remind him of Catherine.
The same night he sees Cathy and Hareton both remind him of Catherine.All these reminders of Catherine torment him and he admits to Nelly that he no longer much cares about taking out his revenge on Cathy and Hareton.

Analysis:

In the past , Heathcliff would have just hit Cathy but his visions are chainging him , lessing his need for revenge. Cleansing him. Being haunted by Catherine torments Heathcliffbut it also what he always wanted , so the reader lacks sympathy for him . Because Heathcliff no longer feels the need for vengence breaking the cycleof revengeallowing Cathy and Hareton to live in peace.
